I’m a Coastal Elite From the Midwest: The Real Bubble is Rural America

Stretching and growing can be uncomfortable for folks who live in small towns that lift up this mythological version of life 'way back when.' How does one have dialogue with a person who willingly fights against the things they don't yet understand? We haven't figured that out yet, but it seems like people only begin to understand things like when a son or daughter comes out to them and they have to process these 'new' concepts personally. How to deal with xenophobia though? And how can we better love and understand on both sides of this dialogue?
