Dear diary, This week was filled with travel, art, friends and acting. A few days ago, I boot-scooted as a line dance assistant over at the gigantic Dallas Cowboys football stadium for happy folks from Wales and Italy who probably think everyone in Texas dresses up as silly cowboys. I only am a cowboy, on average for 33% of the week. The next day, Sam and I drove the open road for Tulsa for some work that had come up. We stayed at our pal Jes' cozy little house and drank perfect tea with Earl Grey and Rose petals while having lovely conversations. The next evening, I was featured as a sketch artist at the GasOne Tower on the very top floor for a fundraiser where many of Tulsa's sassiest patrons and I talked and had their caricature made by yours truly. I also made some other fine art pieces that folks went home with by the end of the evening. I love those venues and events where I can be my artsy self. The free cookies didn't hurt, either. Thanks to Christopher Middlebrook for arranging the event! For our last morning in Tulsa, Sam and I met up with our friends Jes, Lea and Ty (and baby Amelie and Jude) for a quick but wonderful jaunt through Philbrook for their Valentine's Day celebration. It was free! The garden grounds were so nice yesterday. It was warm and sunshiny. We only spent a few hours, and then we were off to Texas; for I had another gig that evening in Fort Worth! Haha! Who needs rest? Last night I played the undertaker with a heart of gold, Mortimer Morton for a Valentine's day crowd of about two hundred for a public show with Texas Star Dinner Theatre. The set pieces looked remarkably like the set of my old children's show, Quick Draw Derick. It was a very large space with lovers of all ages. They enjoyed my "weird little voice", as one giggly patron put it. Did I mention they were served alcohol? They loved the show. I finally got the chance to rest in my own snuggly bed after a few days of driving from one state to the next. This morning has been nice and relaxing...but it is a short-lived respite from adventure of life. In a few hours both Sam and I are packi g up with a group that will be performing as bedazzled characters for the Chinese new year which will take place in...Oklahoma! At least the travel isn't too far; we are just going to the border to a casino, where all celebrations worth having apparently take place. I've been to the Winstar several times for events where each section is like traveling Toma new country ala 80 days. I'm no gambler, so the best thing about that casino is easily the Mexican restaurant. After a long day of work, their margaritas are quite tasty. Here's to tonight, as well as someone else doing driving for a change! Its been a long week. I can rest and actually celebrate our personal Valentine's day in just a few days. I hope life is amazing for anyone who has read this whole thing. How was YOUR Valentine's week?
